About Us

The Slim Gauge Circle is an informal group of modellers in the United Kingdom, plus some overseas modellers, all with a common interest in North American narrow gauge railroads.

The Circle was founded in 1982 to provide a meeting place where the emphasis was on modelling,  the exchange of ideas, meeting old and making new friends, plus some trading. Members interests include 3ft Colorado narrow gauge railroads, Maine 2ft East Coast narrow gauge railroads, plus logging and mining shortlines in various scales and gauges.

We hold member meetings twice a year at near Rugby. There are also local area meetings in various parts of the country – see Events for more information on what’s happening near you soon.

The Slim Gauge Circular magazine is published twice a year with our Dispatches newsletter in between.

There are currently two special interest Modular Layout Groups which meet several times a year; an On30 group (SGCOTT)  and  a HOn3 group (SGC – Hostlers),  which are only open to members of the Slim Gauge Circle.

The Circle has a discussion forum hosted by Groups IO at https://groups.io/g/SlimGaugeCircle .  We also have a Facebook Group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1213532355364913. Members are invited to make themselves known in each.
